As a senior environment artist, you create high-quality 3D assets and build, populate and light complete levels in conjunction with the level designers. You also mentor and guide less experienced artists and interns.
Assist in setting the bar for graphical style and quality of assets and levels;
Build, populate and light levels from mockup to polished state;
Optimize the levels;
Create low- and high-resolution 3D models and textures;
Mentor artists and interns in best practices, processes, and procedures.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
3+ Years of game industry experience;
Experience with world- and level building in a game engine (UE4 preferred);
Experience with content creation (Maya, Zbrush, Substance preferred);
A portfolio showcasing great looking levels/environments;
Good use of light, shadow, color and form in both geometry and texturing.
Bonus skills and experience:
Ability to create materials (Unreal, HLSL) and scripting (Unreal Blueprint, MEL, Python).
Experience with 3rd party tools which can increase the quality and efficiency in how we build environments (e.g. World Machine).
Traditional art skills and concept art.
VFX (shaders, particle systems etc.);
Rigging and skinning (for vehicles, vegetation etc).
You have a big passion for visual storytelling;
You love directing players subconsciously using visual tricks;
You are a passionate player of games with an ability to analyze competitive products for their strengths and weaknesses;
You are experienced with working in an agile/scrum development environment.
